THE 2ND ANNUAL SPRING-TIME COMMUNITY CLEAN-UP & POTLUCK PICNIC 

 

Dear Hottenstein/Gun Club/Eagle Point Road Community Members, 

 

Happy Spring to you and yours!

 

I am sure you have noticed an increase of litter along the sides of the roads in our neck of the woods.  In order to address this issue we are hosting a family friendly, community clean-up effort followed by a free community potluck next Saturday, and we would be happy if you and yours could attend. This is a great opportunity for all of us to come together while we enjoy a lovely spring day caring for our community.  

  

We will be meeting on Saturday April 19th at 12:00 o’clock, High Noon. Our goal is to pick up litter on both the sides of the road, around the “block” starting from Eagle Point Rd. at 737, to Hottenstein Rd. and also along Gun Club Rd. Any able bodied person or supervised child who wants to help clean up the sides of the road, at their own risk, anywhere along this route is welcome to come out on Saturday April 19th, 2025 @ High Noon to work together to accomplish this goal. We will only be cleaning up items we can easily pick up and place into trash bags, and not any overly heavy or large items. Last year some wonderful folks stepped up to help out with their trailers and their trucks in gathering the rubbish and disposing of it at the township building. We will be needing that awesome assistance again this year, so feel free to reach out if you can help with that. 

 

Weather permitting, we plan on doing the clean up first from around 12:00pm to 3:00pm, followed by a little outdoor potluck picnic from around 3:30pm to 6:00pm, or so. Those who participate in the clean up are welcome at the potluck picnic.  Please bring a potluck picnic dish to share if you or your family will be attending the potluck picnic.  

 

If you are a property owner/neighbor along this route or in the local community, feel free to reach out and get involved in any way you like, we can be reached at (610)683-3621.  Technically, it is each property owner’s responsibility to keep the roadside clean in front of their property, but some places along this route get lots and lots of litter very frequently, so we can all pitch in to help eachother keep our community clean.  

 

If we keep the roadside clean in our neck of the woods, people who litter will be less inclined to throw litter out in the first place and it is the right thing to do in order to show respect for our home and so, we look forward to meeting you and seeing you all next Saturday, April 19th, 2025 for a Spring-time Community Clean up and Potluck Picnic.

WHAT TO BRING: Trash Bags, Gloves, Traffic Cones if you have any, Trash picker device if you need, Your own Drinking Water and Water Bottle, Sunscreen, Bug Spray if you need, Wear a Neon Vest and/or Bright Day Glow Colored Clothing, good shoes, a helpful attitude and a willingness to have fun. Potluck dish if you will be attending the picnic. Blanket or Lawn Chairs for Outdoor Potluck Picnic.  

 

SPECIAL ITEMS REQUESTED BY DONATION AND VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:

(please reach out if you are willing and able to help with any of these):

1. Trash Bags and Latex Gloves

2. Pick up Crew Help: Folks are going to put a bunch of trash bags in their pockets, then head out to pick up trash and to fill trash bags with litter, then we will leave them on the side of the road when the bags are too full, get a new bag and keep picking. Then we will need a truck and a driver, to drive around the loop and pick up the full trash bags on the side of the road that we are placing there for us to pick up. Please sign up and reach out if you can give in this way. 

3. Trash Disposal Help: We do not have a big central dumpster. Do you have any extra space at the end of your driveway for trash collection?  For example, I pay for them to pick up 6 cans of trash each week, but I usually only use 2 cans of trash each week, so I can take 4 cans of trash bags for the week to help my community. Can you help in this way at all just for this one week? Can you put any of the full trash bags in your own trash and if what is your address? Or can someone take the trash to a local dump? Help needed on this point. Please sign up and reach out if you are able to give in this way.

4. Disposable Plates, Bowls, Cups, Napkins and Utensils. 

5. Non Alcoholic Drinks, Please.
